Power sector

At TECPL, we bring together designers, engineers, regulatory planners, economists and construction monitors from different streams who understand the needs of the power industry and its planning environment. These professional are experts in the power sector and cover the full range of engineering and consultancy services including feasibility studies, detailed project reports, basic and detailed engineering for all disciplines, procurement assistance, project management, construction supervision and inspection, including operational support services and specific technical studies in power generation, transmission and distribution areas.

Our goal is to provide reliable and cost effective solutions/facilities that complement the environment. The services offered by TECPL are:

	Power Generation
	Thermal Power – Providing full range of consultancy services ranging from DFRs to commissioning for open and combined cycle power plants, conventional coal fired power plants, flue gas cleaning, rehabilitation and conversion to a different fuels, cogeneration, and renewable energy (Wind energy, Biomass, Fuel cells).
	Hydro Power – Providing consultancy services for techno-economic feasibility and attractiveness studies for investors, identification of potential location for the implementation of hydroelectric power projects, basic design, complete detailed design including technical assistance during construction, erection and commissioning, construction planning and monitoring, assistance during the contracting equipment procurement and financing, environmental studies, due diligence services.
	Non-Conventional Power – Tractebel has successfully performed several projects in the fields of Non Conventional and Renewable Energy Sources in many countries for both urban and rural regions. Tractebel's services for these projects cover the complete range of activities and include preparation of feasibility studies, conceptual design & layout of the project, supervision of construction, erection, testing and commissioning and assistance in operation.
	Transmission Infrastructure
	In developing and maintaining effective power transmission Tractebel is known for design of protection systems, energy metering services, test and analysis of incidents in electrical installations, implementation of sub-station C&I systems, audit of existing HV & MV lines and sub-stations, power quality.
	Distribution
	Consultancy services for demand analysis, audit of existing equipment and facilities, analysis of power losses, detailed engineering and planning for redeployment of networks, design of new equipment standards, setting up databases, electrification master plans, comprehensive engineering of distribution projects, operation, monitoring and maintenance procedures.
	Operations & Maintenance Engineering
	Tractebel has expertise in the area of operations & maintenance consultancy for the power plants. We provide maintenance support systems, predictive and preventive maintenance, operator support system, training & engineering simulators etc.

Tractebel provides consultancy services for liberalization, restructuring and privatization of public utilities. For liberalization of power sector Tractebel can provide its services to the authorities in the area of energy strategy planning, tariff policy, development of competition policy and support to private investment, design of sectoral structure – vertical unbundling, splitting; development of IPPs, choice of power transmission and distribution procedures, organization of power trading etc.

We suggest measures for institutional strengthening, identifying strategic investors, drafting of tender documents and assistance during procurement procedure, privatization process. TECPL’s experts are involved in conducting audits, preparing strategies, setting up new tariff structures, financial projections and matters involving legal and statutory aspects.

In India, TECPL has also offered technical services to leading Indian FIs for the due diligence and restart of 2184 MW Dabhol Power Plant and LNG Facility. Currently, TECPL is working as Owner’s Engineer for a very challenging and unique 30 MW power project based on very high temperature waste gas from coke oven battery and associated 220 KV transmission system for Goa Energy Private Ltd (GEPL), a Videocon group company in Goa.TECPL is presently executing following projects in the Power Sector :

	Lender's Engineers Services to Power Finance Corporation for a wind farm project of 9MW capacity in Karnataka.
	Feasibility Report for pet coke fired power station in India.
	Renovation and Modernization (R & M) projects for UKai (2x120MW) and Obra (5x200MW) TPS - providing engineering services to BHEL.
	Station engineering of 3x5 MW Indrasagar hydro-project under execution by BHEL.
	Feasibility studies of Arakot- Tuini and Nandprayag -Langash hydro power projects of Utranchal Jal Vidyut Nigam.
	Engineering of power supply to electrical submersible pumps in off-shore oil & gas platforms of ONGC (in the Mumbai High), interconnectivity process platforms.

In the past, Tractebel has provided technical consultancy services to Jindal Power Company for 2 x 140 MW Thermal Power Plant. Besides this, we have also provided technical services for load forecasting, assessment and up-gradation of electricity distribution system in Rajasthan.
